Welcome to Tax Year 2022

We know getting your taxes done can be a little stressful and maybe even confusing. We hope to make the process as enjoyable as it can be with clear instructions. In order for us to do the best job possible, it's important you thoroughly review the below information to ensure a successful experience this year.

We kindly request you complete your Income Tax Organizer and provide your tax documents by Friday February 24, 2023. This will allow us to review your information and complete your tax returns prior to the filing deadline. We will do our best to finalize your return within 10 business days of receiving your completed organizer and tax documents. The closer it gets to April 15th - the longer the time frame becomes. You don't need a pre-scheduled appointment. We will reach out to schedule when we have your return mostly completed. To ensure your return is filed on time, you must provide your tax documents prior to Thursday, March 30th. If we receive your paperwork after that deadline, we may need to file an extension. An extension does not provide additional time to pay your taxes. Any taxes paid after April 15th will be subject to penalties and interest.

If you would like to send your documents to us digitally, please utilize our client portal system - Smart Vault. We would appreciate if you named all the documents instead of using computer-generated titles. Alternatively, you can scan in one PDF with all your tax documents. There's a way to scan multiple documents directly from your iPhone. The instructions for this and Smart Vault best practices can be found on our website petixbottetax.com. There will be a delay in processing returns with multiple untitled Smart Vault uploads.

If you prefer to hand deliver your paperwork, please feel free to drop them off during business hours. Our tax season hours are Monday - Friday from 8:30am-5pm and Saturdays from 9:00am-12pm. At this time, we have no "after hours" drop box available. You'll receive all your originals back. NOTE - DON'T INCLUDE RECEIPTS. Simply itemize the totals on your organizer (or using another method).

Please avoid gradually sending your information to us via mail or email. We prefer to receive everything all at once (with the exception of investment 1099s and K-1s as noted below). Alternatively, you may upload documents to Smart Vault at your convenience and leisure. When you have uploaded all your paperwork, please send us an email and we will begin working on your return. For those taxpayers who receive K-1s and investment 1099s, we understand those items usually come in mid to late March. To assist our work flow, please return the organizer and your other tax documents as early as possible. As a reminder, you must sign and return your filing authorization forms before we can submit your return to the government agencies. Additionally, we require payment prior to filing. Your forms and invoice will be included in your Fed-Ex envelope or sent to you via DocuSign (our preferred method).
